Independence – freedom from influence, freedom from control.

Independent – a person who does not have to depend on others, not depending on the help, advice or opinions of others.

The topic of our lesson is “Independence is a way of expressing personality”. We should understand how to be independent in our life, we should be ready to decide different problems and suggest different independent solutions. At the end of our lesson you should think of your own advice for people who want to be independent.

We live in society and we have to follow some rules of this society.

We all eat the same food, wear the same clothes and watch the same films; we are all in danger of becoming the same as everyone and in danger of depending on each other.

-In this case what should we do for our independence?

-Do you want to differ from others? What makes people different?

If you want to be independent, you should differ from others.

Everyone has ambitions and wishes but sometimes we have no possibilities to make true our wishes. There is а great difference between our ambitions and real life. That is why you should remember it when you make choice, express your own opinion and communicate with your friends. Respect yourself and respect other people. And, of course, be independent.

-Are you ready to give advice – is it important to be independent? Why?

The past continuous tense

The past continuous is formed using was/were + present participle. Questions are indicated by inverting the subject and was/were. Negative sentences are made with not.

Statement: You were studying.

Question: Were you studying?

Negative: You were not studying.

Past Continuous — это прошедшее длительное время, которое указывает на событие или процесс, длившийся в определенный период времени в прошлом.

Past Continuous образуется при помощи вспомогательного глагола to be в прошедшем времени (was для единственного числа и were для множественного числа) и первой формы глагола с окончанием -ing (простое причастие настоящего времени).

Was употребляется с Подлежащими: I / He / She / It

Were употребляется c подлежащими: You / We / They

I was crying — Я плакал. She was sleeping — Она спала. We were dancing — Мы танцевали. You were eating — Ты ел. При образовании причастия (Ving) нужно помнить о том, в каком случае согласная или гласная на конце удваивается, когда гласная на конце заменяется на другую, и других правилах.
