 compare two pictures of “ Dream garden” and find out differences between them

Start. Greetings. Teacher greets learners by asking the question “How are you feeling?” in order to know their mood at the lesson. Here cards can be used. Learners choose the cards showing different feelings and say about their mood.

Warm up. Brainstorming. Teacher uses collaborating learning activity in dividing learners in groups of 3-4 with 1 more able learner. Teacher gives cards with letters and asks learners to join all parts of a word quickly and glue them on the paper. Then hung it to the board. Teacher elicits from the learners the topic of lesson by asking the question: “ How do you think, what the topic of our lesson is…” Teacher gets learners familiar with the lesson objectives and assessment criteria.

Teacher uses active learning method “Quick Draw,” explains its rule. Learners should understand the rule and draw quickly and correctly according to the teacher’s instructions. For ex: Just imagine a beautiful garden with green grass everywhere. There is a big apple tree on the right and a small pear tree on the left. The sun shines brightly. Birds are singing… Learners use a piece of paper, start drawing according to the teacher’s instructions Descriptor: Learner:

After finishing learners exchange their work and check it using the picture on the screen.

Middle. “Posters and gallery walk”. Teacher holds a magic box in her hand. She asks learners come up to her to take out words from it. Those who choose nouns will be in the first group, adjectives will be in the second group, verbs will be in the third group. Learners take out the cards, find their groupmates , then they take their seats. Group 1 is formed by using nouns e.g.: grass, plants, flowers, bird house, bridge, stones, ... Group 2 is formed by using adjectives e.g.: nice, tall, big, green, low, beautiful Group 3 is formed by using verbs e.g.: to walk, to plant, to pick, to hear, to paint, to smell...

In the group learners should describe at least 5 objects using the given words on the topic “Gardening”, preposition of location and construction “There is/ there are” presenting their ideas on the posters. After they display it on the wall. One of the group will stay with the poster and help to explain it. Learners take turns standing by their posters in order to have a chance to visit the other groups’ posters. While learners are presenting their work, other groups listen, make notes and ask questions.

Teacher observes the groups, giving prompts for less able learners, in order to help to make up the correct sentence. Group assessment: each group assesses group work using descriptor. Descriptor: Learner:
