How has my daily life changed at university?

My name is Elshat. I am 18 years old and a first-year student at the Department of Mechanics at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. Since finishing school and starting university, my life has changed significantly. So, how has my life changed?

According to my parents and teachers, university life is one of the most exciting periods in life. I am starting to see that this is true. In my opinion, studying at university means taking full responsibility for yourself. When I was in school, I was under my parents’ care at home, and at school, our teachers took responsibility for us. Being a student means stepping into adulthood, solving your problems, and making decisions independently.

At the beginning of the academic year, I had to wake up early for morning classes because I live far from the university. As we all know, it is almost impossible to reach the city on time due to traffic jams in Almaty. At university I have a lot of freedom, but as I mentioned, with freedom comes responsibility. To manage everything—such as my hobbies, sports, studying, and spending time with my family and friends—I must plan my time properly.

Another major change is my social life. At university, I have met many new people and made great friends. My classmates and I often study together in the library, help each other, have meals together, and actively participate in university events. I took part in an international conference called “Artificial intelligence in educational sphere - challenges and evolution”. By participating in this conference, I received a lot of useful information from foreign professors and gained a lot of experience that will help me in the future. Additionally, I have joined student organizations that organize various activities. Through these, I have found like-minded people and spent my time in a fun and meaningful way.

In conclusion, my life at university has changed significantly. Since becoming a student, I have felt a greater sense of responsibility. Every day, I face new challenges, and by overcoming them, I continue to grow and improve. Since this is only my first year, I believe that the most exciting experiences are still ahead. I am confident that in the future, I will apply the knowledge I gain in practice and become an educated person.
