Today Astana is not only a country’s major administrative center, located at the intersection of major development networks of the country. It is the city-leader, setting the pace in the innovative development of Kazakhstan. The city, which acts as a locomotive of the reforms in Kazakhstan of the new millennium is also a tourist attraction in the steppes. Astana surprises all of us, but especially foreighners by its prompt and powerful rate of building, the unique beauty, variety of modern architecture.

The excellent architectural ensemble of Astana attracts the attention of many people all over the world. Many beautiful, sound and many-storeyed apartment houses, office buildings, comfortable sport complexes and other necessary objects people’s life are being constructed in Astana. Despite of being a young capital, Astana has already got its awards. In 1999 the UNESCO gave it the title of “City of Peace”. Modern Astana is a planned city like Brasilia in Brazil, Canberra in Australia, Washington in the United States and other planned capitals. After Astana became the capital of Kazakhstan, the city cardinally changed its shape. The cultural life is perfectly combined with the history of the city. It has a lot of museums, theaters, art galleries. Great architecture is seen through the buildings built by Arab, Turkish and Japanese architects. The perfect example is a trade mall called Khan Shatyr which is the biggest tent in the world. It is the favourite place for shopping and leisure.
