STARTER:

Warming up activity

Students watch the video and guess the theme of the lesson.

Teacher asks: What is the theme?

Students answer: Media

DEVELOPMENT:

[P] Find the definition. Students find the definitions of the words. [S-S]

Descriptors a learner:

- reads the words;

- finds appropriate definitions;

- reads the words with the definitions.

Assessment: Peer assessment by traffic light. Students check each other by ready answers and show the green cards if the students find all the definitions, if they have 2-3 mistakes, they show yellow cards, if 4 or more they show red cards.

Differentiation: Differentiation by resources. Students can use dictionaries, mobile phones and internet.

Dividing into 4 groups. Teacher divides students into 4 groups by the counting 1st group: Television, 2nd group Internet, 3rd group Mobile phones, 4th group Newspaper

[W] Drilling the new words. Changing accents. Teacher reads the new words and students repeat after the teacher by changing accents. 1st group Russian, 2nd group Italian, 3rd group Chinese, 4th group English.[T-S]

Reading.

[W]Pre-reading: Prediction. Students look at the picture and try to predict the reading topic.

[G] While-reading. Gallery walk.

Teacher gives 4 texts for groups. Each group reads and discusses the text. After discussion they make a poster and hang it to the wall. Then they choose a speaker. Speakers stay in their places, other students move to other groups and listen to them.
