Brainstorming To brainstorming teacher asks students what season they like best and sees if anyone can explain why. For example:

 What’s your favourite season?  Why do you like this season?  Do you like autumn?  What do we do in spring? Puzzle Teacher divides students into four groups by puzzles. Invite students to take the pieces of puzzles. Then teachers tells them to find the same pieces of puzzle and make subgroups, ask students to name their picture .

Teacher shows the pictures on the board and asks students try to guess the theme of the lesson. Teacher introduces weather words with pictures and by using some gestures:

 sunny: slowly spread your arms out  rainy: wiggle your fingers downwards like rain  windy: gesture wind blowing out of your mouth  cloudy: make cloudy shapes with your hands  snowy: wiggle your fingers downwards like snow and shiver  foggy: close your eyes and put your hand out in front like you are trying to

feel for something you can’t see  hot: fan your face  cold: wrap your arms around your body  freezing: shiver with your shoulders  warm: breath deep and hands down

Teacher asks students to show these gestures by themselves. Students try to repeat gestures as they can remember. To make clear the teacher invites some students to show weather gestures.

Task 1. 4 “W” questions

Teacher asks question about today’s weather.

- What is the weather like today? Each subgroup must answer to the questions using their own pictures.

- When does it snow? - Why is everywhere green in the spring? - Where do you go in summer? - What’s the weather like in autumn? Students describe their seasons with weather words. If some students can’t answer the questions teacher shows them weather words and help with some gestures. Teacher makes discussion around this question: -What’s the difference of weather between Shymkent and Astana? Students try to share their opinions.

Task 2. Game “Domino”

Give subgroups domino cards that connected with weather. Pupils in small groups receive a range of domino cards.
