“Picture prompt” activity

Teacher uses pictures of holiday and transport and speak about them, asks the learners to identify the theme of the lesson and asks what the holiday means.

Teacher divides learners into subgroups using cards with words (1 group – public transport; 2 group –private transport; 3 group – urban transport)

Activate vocabulary.

Teacher revises the words and phrases using “Word tree”, flashcards, pictures about holiday and transport.

Monuments, theatres, bridges, parks, statues, palaces, cathedrals, art galleries, take photos, look around, buy souvenirs, do shopping, go sightseeing, loose the way, spend money.

In feedback learners name the transport, places, activities by looking at the pictures.

Task 1. (I)

Acquaint new words: a taxi, a car, a train, a plane, a coach, a raft, a helicopter, a jet, a ship, a boat, a hot air balloon. Learners divide these words on the categories and make up sentences by answering questions.
