Warm up

1. (G/W) Teacher asks students in groups of 3-4 to brainstorm adjectives to describe people in one minute. Then each group presents to the class their results by writing on the board. If the group has the same adjective, they cross it. Finally, the class list of adjectives for describing personalities will remain on the board.

2. Teacher introduces the lesson objectives.

3. Vocabulary introduction

(I,W) Teacher introduces vocabulary by watching video. Students are to make notices in their copybooks while watching the video.

Then teacher checks as a class which adjectives students have jotted down. Teacher observes and monitors students’ performance.

Options:

(G) Another way of presenting vocabulary is doing the exercise in Handout 1 “ Describing personality”

and introducing the vocabulary on slide

2.Using dictionaries where necessary to check meaning, learners stick different words.

4. (P/Gr) Teacher asks students to choose a picture on slide 2 and describe his/her to a classmate. When the classmate correctly guesses the person, reverse the roles.

5. Listening

(I) Teacher asks students to listen to Adam’s five letters and match the things Adam wrote about with the adjectives. Students listen to the recording twice. This listening task is assessed as formative one. (Handout 2 Formative assessment)
