To start a lesson teacher asks learners questions: what date is it today?/ what month is it now?/ what is the weather like today?/

Teacher tells the students the objectives of the lesson

The objectives of the lesson are:- to introduce names of landmarks; to consolidate covered material and use it in speech.

Teacher asks learners; - What do you see at the picture? What they know about them?

To present text

Pre-reading: Teacher asks Ss to tell what they know about these landmarks and write it on the board. ( eg. Where are they located? What are they made of? When were they built?)

While reading: - Teacher plays recording. Learners listen and follow the text in their books and find the answers to their questions. Suggested questions: -1. How old is the Eiffel Tower?(over 100 years old), 2. How tall is Baiterek? (105 m tall), 3. Where is Buckingham Palace? (in London, England)

Post-reading:- Teacher asks learners to read the questions and then read the text again and answer them.

Answer key; 1)- The Eiffel Tower is over 100 years old. 2). It is 324 meters tall. 3) It is 105 meters tall. 4) A handprint of the right hand, Nursultan Nazarbaev, the first President of the independent Republic of Kazakhstan.

Consolidation.

Aim: - to consolidate information from a text.

Teacher asks learners to write or to say a sentence about landmarks in the photographs.

Suggested answer key: -The Eiffel Tower is in Paris. The Baiterek Tower is in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. Buckingham Palace has got 775 rooms.

Group work.

Aim: - to create a poster on special buildings in the country. Learners work in group. They find picture of special buildings and landmarks in their country. Then they design and layout a poster using these materials. Learners display their posters to the class.

Learners evaluate themselves according the following criteria:

Vocabulary presentation

Teacher directs learners’ attention to the pictures. Plays the recording with pauses for learners to repeat chorally or individually. Then teacher elicits the L1 equivalents.

Reading

Pre – reading: Teacher asks learners to read the title and the introduction and then elicits the topic of the text. Teacher asks learners to read through the statements and decide which are true and which are not

While – reading: Learners read the text and translate it.
