Group – division:

Divide learners into 2 groups. Learners should take the cards with the names of the film genres and TV programs. Learners who have the name of films and words which related to this topic-1 group, 2 group - the names of TV programs and words which related to this topic.

Lead-in: Guessing the topic of the lesson.

Discuss with the learners lesson objectives and try to elicit them from the learners asking the questions:

What topic have we been studying?

What did you find in the cards when you were trying to divide into groups?

Our theme is: “FOCUSIING ON TV PROGRAMS AND FILMS”

1.Do you watch TV every day?

2. What kind of TV program or movie do you watch?

3.What is your favourite movie and program?

4.Have you ever seen the same movie or program more than once? If yes, name it.

Checking the hometask. For two or three minutes the first group will prepare arguments for TV, the second one-against it.

The main part of the lesson:

Show learners the video “Introduction to film genres”. Before watching the video give learners the task to answer the questions on the video. Learners can work in groups discussing the answers to the given questions.

Questions:

1. What are the differences between films which you have watched in the video? (Answer: The differences between films are genres).

2. Describe in some words the film genres you have watched in the video. (Work in groups)

Elicit the genres from learners and write down them on the whiteboard.
